Srilanka - India International Cultural and Educational Exchange Program at Shri Natesan Vidyasala
As a part of International Cultural and Educational Exchange program, Shri Natesan Vidyasala MHSS hosted a week-long program and events for its 104 years old Srilankan Partner School B/Sujatha Maha vidyalaya, an institution known for its excellence in academics, sports, dance, dramatics, home science and agriculture .
Several programs were organised by the school that highlighted the Indian and specifically the Tamil Culture and Traditions. The Srilankan Team enjoyed the Karakattam, Mayilattam, Silambattam and Bharatnatyam performances of Natesan children. The Srilankan students gave traditional srilankan dance and song performance highlighting the culture and value systems of Srilanka.
Apart from celebrating the Joy of Giving Festival Christmas with Natesan students and staff, the team of 26 students and teachers , Principal from Srilankan partner school also participated in several scouts, guides, Ncc events , learnt Yoga, visited some of the prominent Universities in Chennai, and places of importance in and around Chennai and Kanchi District including Mahabalipuram, along with students and staff of Natesan Vidyasala.
A hands on training on origami, paper art and craft were taught to Srilankan students by Natesan art teachers and students. A special demonstration and basic learning session on Silambam, Archery, Mountaineering and Rappelling, were also organised by the Natesan school which were very enthusiastically learnt by the Srilankan partner school.
Several presentations on Indo-Srilankan centuries old partnership, indo-srilankan educational system, contributions of both the countries towards each other's growth were presented by both Srilankan and Natesan teachers.
A special demonstration of some famous, healthy vegetarian recipes of Srilanka and India by the Sujatha Maha vidyalaya and Natesan Teachers were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The Primary and Higher class teachers hosted luncheon for the Srilankan team and highlighted variety of Indian recipes and explained about ingredients and making of those recipies.
